Now that this year’s Nutanix .NEXT conference has wrapped up, it’s time to give a recap. .NEXT 2025 hosted:
A few things that I expected to see were featured at .NEXT this year. And then there were a couple of surprises that really made the conference a memorable experience.
Here’s an overview of 3 of the key takeaways that made .NEXT 2025 stand out for me.
I’ll begin my recap with the announcement that was the least surprising for everyone: AI. AI has been highlighted at many technology conferences, and .NEXT 2025 was no different.
The conference featured the latest version of Nutanix Enterprise AI (NAI) with a NVIDIA framework and integration with NVIDIA Enterprise AI. Nutanix emphasized the incorporation of Agentic AI along with improvements in the ability to build, run, and manage inferencing services thanks to Large Language Models (LLMs).
While spotlighting AI at any infrastructure technology conference might be considered table stakes, getting the Nutanix perspective and, maybe more importantly, the future direction of their support of AI was a cool experience.
The conference presented a handful of items related, not only to customer choice and scale, but to simplifying management. For example, one session dealt with the future of building, configuring, and upgrading clusters, both on-premises and in the cloud.
The Omnissa Horizon support for Nutanix AHV, while somewhat expected, was another stride forward that gives customers greater choice in their Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI).
Nutanix announced Cloud Native Application Orchestration Service (AOS) extending across the distributed hybrid cloud for more control and better data management. The conference presented a separate public preview of Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2) on Google Cloud.
By far the biggest and most exciting announcement was the Pure Storage + Nutanix partnership. The ability to maintain the quality of the Nutanix AHV software and all the ease-of-use that comes with it, coupled with leading all-flash external storage, gives users the best of both worlds.
In the online announcement from Nutanix, Chief Commercial Officer Tarkan Maner said, “This new solution will help Nutanix and Pure Storage reach more customers together and help them better manage and modernize their mission-critical applications.” Maner went on to say, “Our integrated solution will be ideally suited for companies with storage-rich environments looking for choices in modernization.”
Benefits of the partnership between Pure Storage and Nutanix include:
The potential of linking Nutanix and Pure Storage and having a fully vetted reference architecture with Cisco gear via FlashStack created a buzz at .NEXT 2025. I can't wait to whiteboard this new development at every opportunity.
I felt like the .NEXT 2025 conference was the beginning of amazing things to come. I'm excited to speak with all my Nutanix and Pure Storage customers -- especially those that use both technologies -- about what future releases of software will bring.
